FabFitFun Winter 2018 Box Review

FABFITFUN Winter 2018 Box Review Blog

Sidenote: Happy 2019 everyone! I’m back to blogging and my first blog of the year is a FabFitFun Review.

The Winter FabFitFun 2018 box arrived a little while ago on my doorstep and I’m excited to share my thoughts on it. In my opinion, it’s one of the best boxes I’ve received from FabFitFun and rivals the contents of the Winter 2017 box.

Pssst…If you want to get your own Fabfitfun box for less, then check out the end of this post for savings codes* and info on upcoming Editor’s boxes and seasonal boxes (*Please note, this blog post contains affiliate links to FabFitFun. This means that if you make a purchase from the link, I will receive a small percentage of it*).

If you don’t know what Fabfitfun is…Check out this post!

Fabfitfun Winter 2018 Box Package

What’s In The FabFitFun Winter 2018 Box?

Something to note: All the FabFitFun boxes have options for a few items. If you’re a Select Member, you get to choose between some items you’d like to receive. If you’re a Regular Member (like me!) then you can choose an option you would prefer, and you may receive your choice or the other.

I’ve bolded the ones I received. And all of these items, which are valued between $290-$335 USD, were in this box, which showed up right to my doorstep, for under $70 CAD.

FabFitFun Winter Box Items I Like

Fabfitfun Winter 2018 Box Mark and Graham Blanket Rolled Fabfitfun Winter 2018 Box Mark and Graham Blanket Open

Mark & Graham Colourblock Throw in Natural/Ivory

The throw blanket from Mark & Graham is such a cozy item to have in a winter subscription box. The knit is super soft and feels quite warm. I think it’s a perfect throw to add to a couch or chair. The only downside to the product is directly linked to my own clumsiness–because the knit is so delicate, I’m a little worried I may snag the fabric on something.

While I want to use the blanket immediately, I’m saving it for when I have my own place. But that won’t stop me from enjoying it!

Bearpaw Combo Set: Headband and Pop-Top Glove Duo

Fabfitfun Winter 2018 Bear Paws Accessories

I never thought I could be so excited over winter accessories, but here we are. Bearpaw gloves and hats have always been part of my winter wardrobe. I can remember my Mum telling me, “Bearpaw will keep your warm!”

Of course I grew up and developed a sense of winter style where Bearpaw items weren’t a staple. But getting the Bearpaw Headband and Pop-Top Gloves made me fall in love with the brand again. The headband is especially trendy with its small twist in the front, but stays practical with the sherpa lining. The gloves are also practical because you can keep the pop-top over your fingertips, or you can let your fingertips loose. I enjoy using the gloves for driving.

Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo

FabFitFun Winter 2018 Oribe Dry Shampoo

I honestly had not heard of the Oribe brand until this box, which is surprising considering how influential founder, Oribe Canales, was in the hairdressing industry in the 80’s and 90’s. Shortly after receiving this FabFitFun box, Oribe passed away, and the brand was put back in the media again.

I should probably tell you all that I’m not a pro at dry shampooing…yet. But I’m slowly learning how dry shampoo can be beneficial to my hair care and my daily routine. With that said, I really enjoy how the  Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo feels weightless when applied and doesn’t smell like a chemical explosion on your head. It definitely does the job and absorbs the excess oils while giving a bit of volume.

Honestly, I don’t know if I’d ever buy it at retail price ($44 USD) because I feel like there are dupes out there that can work just as well, but I enjoyed trying out the product and it’s cruelty free!

Thrive Causemetics Brilliant Eye Brightener in “Stella”

Fabfitfun Winter 2018 Thrive Causemetics Brightening Stick

When you’re looking a little sleepy or desire a bit of extra shine in your look, the Brilliant Eye Brightner from Thrive Causemetics will be your go-to. The FabFitFun magazine that comes in every FabFitFun box recommended putting the product in the corner of the eyes, and the Thrive box recommends going into the water line as well.

I think it’s a great way to complete your look and keep your eyes looking bright and awake. I was a little hesitant to go into my water line with the Brilliant Eye Brightner at first, but it did not irritate my eyes which can be a little sensitive! I would probably buy this product on its own because it does a fantastic job and is not outrageously priced.

Ahava Hydration Cream Mask

Fabfitfun Winter 2019 Box Ahava Cream Mask

Last year’s FabFitFun Winter Box also had a product from Ahava so I was excited to use this one. The Ahava Hydration Cream Mask is a great way to add a little more hydration to your skin, especially during the winter. The mask can be used overnight so it seeps into your skin, or it can be used as part of your nighttime pampering routine.

Scent-sitive people be warned: The mask does have a slight scent of what I can only describe as clean linens. Other than that, the mask totally softens skin and packs it with Vitamin E.

FabFitFun Winter Box Items I Dislike

I don’t have any items to add to this section! Like I mentioned before, this box was one of the best boxes from FabFitFun.

Items I Haven’t Used YET (but will!)

Pur Cosmetics – Be Your Selfie Palette

Fabfitfun Winter 2019 Box Pur Be Your Selfie Palette Fabfitfun Winter 2018 Box Pur Be Your Selfie Eyeshadow Colours

This warm toned, cruelty free, 9-colour eye shadow palette from Pur Cosmetics, is still on my to-try list. I haven’t been wearing too much makeup the past few weeks, so I haven’t felt a need to crack open the palette just yet.

With that said, I absolutely love the mix of shades in the palette. There are 4 matte neutrals and 5 shimmery shades in neutrals and plums. I hope they swatch and wear well, because the palette is impressive.

Way of Will Elevate Essential Oil Set: Sweet Orange and Eucalyptus Oil

Fabfitfun Winter 2018 Elevate Essential Oils

If you’ve been following my blog or my Instagram for a bit, you’ll know that I’ve been using essential oils for the past 6 months or so. While I am super happy to receive an Essential Oil Set, I haven’t had a chance to use them strictly because I am using ones I have already opened from other brands.

Blaq Hydrogel Eye Mask With Hyaluronic Acid

Fabfitfun Box Winter 2018 Blaq Eye Mask Hylauraunic Acid

The only reason I haven’t used the Blaq Hydrogel Eye Masks yet is because I’m trying out a few items from The Body Shop for my under eye area and I don’t want to interrupt my progress with them. The Blaq brand is cruelty free, but I’m not entirely sure what the ingredients are in the eye masks and if they’ll work well for my skin and under eye area. Hopefully when I do get to try them, they’ll work well!

Items I Won’t Be Using

Fabfitfun Winter 2018 Bite Beauty Lipstick in Meringue

The only item I sadly won’t be using is the one I was actually very excited to get: the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick. The colour “Meringue” is just far too light and the wrong shade for my skintone. I think it’s a shade that would look great on people both light and dark skinned, but the lipstick made my lips look too pale and sickly. I wish the colour suited me because I love the formula for the Amuse Bouche Lipstick line from Bite Beauty. If you haven’t tried any Bite Beauty lipsticks, I definitely recommend it!

This lipstick has already made its way to my sister’s makeup bag, and she is super excited for it. Our skintones are a shade or two apart, making this shade a great fit for her.

Was the FabFitFun Winter 2018 Box Worth It?

I think that for paying under $70CAN for this box is actually quite the steal for what’s inside. I love the contents and there isn’t anything that I was disappointed to get. I loved trying out the Oribe Brand and I am so happy that I have a Bearpaw Headband and Mitten set to carry me through the remainder of winter.
